The State aid scheme was approved to support investments aimed at promoting the production
and distribution of thermal energy in a centralized system from less exploited renewable sources,
respectively biomass, biogas, geothermal energy, in order to ensure the public service of thermal
energy supply in the centralized system.
The purpose of the need to implement the aid scheme is based on achieving the objectives of
having an efficient economy in terms of resource use, leading to sustainable development, which
is based on a high level of protection and improvement of air quality.
At the same time, this implementation also aims to increase the share of renewable energy in
total primary energy consumption, as a result of investments to increase the installed capacity to
produce electricity and heat from less exploited renewable sources.
The aid scheme is addressed to the administrative-territorial units, respectively to the territorial
administrative subdivisions of inter-community development from the less developed regions of
Romania, having an applicability until December 31 st , 2021.
