A new law has been adopted to establish legal framework for proper functioning of internal market in terms of accessibility requirements applicable to products and services, by eliminating and preventing barriers to their free movement for products such as hardware systems, equipment for electronic communication services, e-readers and payment terminals.
Economic operators may only place on market products that comply with accessibility requirements and provide services that comply with accessibility requirements. Manufacturers shall ensure that, when placing products on market, they are designed and manufactured according to accessibility requirements.
EU Statement of Compliance attests that compliance with the applicable accessibility requirements has been demonstrated. Where a product is covered by more than one European Union act requiring an EU statement of compliance, a single statement of compliance shall be drawn up under all these Union acts.
CE marking shall be affixed visibly, legibly and persistently to product or to the product data plate. Where this is not possible or not justified, given the nature of product, marking shall be applied to the packaging and accompanying documents. Law applies to products placed on market as well as services provided to consumers after June 28th 2025.
