The law introducing the possibility of issuing criminal records in electronic format has been adopted.
At request of natural persons or entities, following the option recorded in the standard request, the criminal record certificate is issued free of charge and in electronic form.
Criminal records certificates issued in electronic form are signed with a qualified electronic signature and are assimilated to authentic documents.
Within 6 months from the entry into force of the law, the procedures for issuing criminal records in electronic form shall be established by joint order of the Minister of Internal Affairs and the Minister of Research, Innovation and Digital. Currently, the criminal record certificate is issued at the counter of public authorities in police stations, within 3 days from the date of submission of the application based on the standard request, and its validity is 6 months from the moment of issuance.
